Treatment plans, informed consent, and no aggressive sales pitch

Healthcare is a business—whether we like it or not—but healthcare providers, including chiropractors, must always put their patients first. When a patient comes in for treatment, an exam is performed to determine their condition, and a treatment plan is recommended that is appropriate for that condition. When seeing a chiropractor, you should be given a plan that includes a specific re-exam date in the future. This helps establish both a goal and a timeframe in which to achieve it.

Your chiropractor should provide a thorough explanation of your condition and a recommended treatment plan. As part of this process, all healthcare providers should obtain informed consent, meaning they clearly describe the treatment, its process, and any risks, benefits, and alternatives. Ultimately, it’s up to us as chiropractors to guide patients toward the best course of care—but as a patient, you make the final decision about whether to follow the treatment plan.

A good chiropractor will respect your decision and offer support in any way possible, regardless of your choice. They will not use aggressive sales tactics or try to scare you into treatment.

At Performance Family Chiropractic, we take the time to explain your treatment plan and ensure informed consent. We do not use aggressive sales pitches. Your chiropractor should do the same!
