Dr. Justin demonstarting a bad bending technique. It is no smart to bend and twist at the same time.

With spring right around the corner, many of us are getting ready to spend more time outside working in the garden and doing yardwork. While it’s a great way to enjoy the warmer weather, gardening can also put extra stress on your back, neck, and joints if you’re not careful.

Here are a few simple reminders to help protect your spine while working in the yard:

Bend with your knees, not your back when lifting bags of soil, pots, or tools.

Keep objects close to your body when lifting to reduce strain on your back.

Avoid twisting while lifting—turn your whole body instead.

Take breaks and stretch if you’re working for long periods.

Use smaller loads rather than trying to lift too much at once.

Spring is also a great time to tune up your spine before the busy yardwork and gardening season begins. A chiropractic adjustment can help improve mobility, reduce stiffness, and make it easier for your body to handle the extra physical activity.

If you’ve been thinking about coming in for an adjustment, now is a great time to get ahead of any aches and pains before they start.

We look forward to seeing you soon and helping you stay healthy and active this spring!

Stay well,

Dr. Justin
