Choosing a chiropractor can be difficult—just like choosing any professional. You often have no idea what to expect until you meet them, and it can be challenging to find the right fit. Beyond the obvious factors, such as being licensed in your state and graduating from an accredited chiropractic college, there are several important qualities to look for when choosing a chiropractor. We’re going to share the top 10—listed in no particular order- one at a time. We will circle back and list out all 10 after we have compiled the full list.
Let’s start with #10!
#10: You want someone who is evidence-based. An evidence-based chiropractor is a practitioner who grounds their care in the best available scientific research, clinical expertise, and patient preferences. Rather than relying solely on tradition or anecdotal experience, they use proven methods to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal conditions—especially those involving the spine—while drawing on their own clinical knowledge and experience. This approach emphasizes accurate assessment, individualized treatment plans, and ongoing evaluation of results. Evidence-based chiropractors also collaborate with other healthcare providers when appropriate and prioritize patient education, empowering individuals to take an active role in their recovery and long-term health.
At Performance Family Chiropractic, we take an evidence-based approach by following data and guidelines provided by the Clinical Compass, the leading nonprofit research organization in the chiropractic profession. Your chiropractor should be doing the same.
